Rocks are formed naturally in the globe as they constitute the solid substrate for it and it is a vital area for human activities and it is mainly composed of minerals. Although there are many types of rocks, they are divided into only three main types, which are as follows:

igneous rocks
The mechanism of the formation of igneous rocks revolves around the lava, so that the lava consists of minerals and molten materials from the ground, which made its way to the surface, and then was exposed to temperatures much lower than what it was, which leads to its freezing forming igneous rocks, and it can form in two cases, the case the first is when the molten materials cool quickly, which leads to the formation of smooth, shiny rocks, and the second case is when the gases are confined within these Materials while they are on the way to freezing, forming rocks with small pores and holes, such as basalt rocks.

Sedimentary rocks
It is originally sand, sediments, shells and other solid materials that were deposited and formed layers over the ages and times, and then were subjected to pressure and heat for a long period, which led to its hardening and making it one of the types of rocks Examples are limestone.

metamorphic rocks
It is called metamorphic rock due to its transformation from one type to another, so that it could originally be igneous rocks and it could be sedimentary rocks, but regardless of its origin, it has been subjected to intense pressure and heat, which led to its re-formation and changing its mineral composition, and then forming a new type of rocks, examples of which are marble
